I think the session turned out pretty well, considering I don't have a macro lens and my light source was one of those articulated desk lamps.

I really don't know what I'd post there. I'm not into die-cast other than the Ford 1:64 scale GT/GT40's that I have hanging on my garage wall. If I do, I'll ask you pretty please to give me authorship.

just let me know buddy :] We'd like to see them. I lack a Ford GT/GT40 in my collection. I fell awful that I don't. But I've had this one lined up for maybe this weekend.

Your pics look great.

For photography of this type, you certainly don't need a macro lens. A macro lens has an extremely small depth of field. Shooting at f2.8 or f32 your focus will blur out quickly. Cameras nowdays have enough megapixels to shoot backed away from the subject a bit. You can always crop the image to what you were aiming for. A macro lens is great for detail. In order to get the entire subject in focus shooting with a macro lens you would either need to be extremely far away from the subject to get it all in focus or use a method called focus stacking. You would take multiple exposures of your image, zooming in little by little each frame. Using Photoshop, you would then 'stitch' them all together to make your final image.

I don't know what equipment you have but I would suggest shooting around f16 - f22 if you want the entire subject in focus. Having only one light, your shutter speed will be a little long to hand-hold the camera. Unless you crank the ISO and introduce some noise to your image, I would suggest using a tripod. If your camera has a timer, use that too. That eliminates any camera shake when you click the shutter.

Awesome..........1:18th! I do have a 1:12 red Ford GT. I have it displayed in my guest bed/office/Ford GT/other stuff/room.

This one is definitely my favorite! Way better than my first time photographing cars. I still use a desk lamp as one of my light sources..... :P

It really is interesting.......to me anyway. I have just whatever takes my fancy hanging on the wall. Coca Cola sign, Pepsi sign, Ford GT posters, pics of friends, a HW Ford GT mistake (passenger window painted yellow). I can't see driver's side to know if it is too. Ford GT thermometer, Ford GT clock (license plate size). Other stuff related to my town.

I have a room like that. It is filled with posters, art, tons of hot wheels, motorcycle stuff, and maps from my travels.
